Windows Repair Software

Ever used Windows Repair Software of any kind? Or are you one of the lucky ones that have never had a bad or corrupted file on your windows based computer? One that has never seen the dreaded blue screen of death because your computer has a corrupted file and thus the operating system is about a useless as a screen door on a submarine? If you are one of those people then you either never used the computer or you are fibbing to us because the windows operating system, for whatever reason has a habit of losing, corrupting or just misplacing files that it needs in order to operate, you might even call it computer Alzheimer’s because once it sets in your PC has no clue who it is or where it is going. Sure it will occasionally figure things out and operate normally, but unless you take steps to help it, you are in for a lot of headaches.

There is a lot of Windows Repair Software on the market. Most of them do a decent job some do not. In simplified theory what this type of software will do is look over your operating system and determine that you should have files X, Y and Z in specific areas. When it sees that they are either missing or in the wrong part of the hard drives filing system, it will re-write the correct file into the area where the operating system expects to find it.

Some of the software runs almost automatically and some of it requires that you answer questions. If you know what you are doing, the latter is the safest because the software may delete a copy of the needed file from a location where it found it but you might have another piece of software that needs to reference that file where it was and if the Windows Repair Software removes it from that location, then the other software might end up corrupted and not working.

See, don’t you just love windows based products? I have seen instances on my own personal computer where I have had as many as 45 copies of the exact same file in various places on my PC. Yes, the program is supposed to locate the files even if they get moved. But we are in an imperfect world with an imperfect system and software programs that are also imperfect. As a result there can be extreme pandemonium between programs causing your PC to perform erratically, if at all.

A little point here, if you pay attention when installing your new programs and know what you are doing, they most always tell you when they are about to overwrite, move or delete a file that you might need. If it does you can avoid a good portion of the need for the Windows Repair Software by answering correctly there.

Windows Repair Software can usually get you back up and running with a little time and effort. Just don’t get frustrated and answer any questions it asks as you go along and you’ll be fine.
